Secure Agriculture’s Next Generation
7. Georgia’s youth must view agriculture, forestry, food processing and related endeavors as fields worthy of study and employment.
The challenge of producing an adequate, safe supply of food and fiber for 9 billion people by the year 2050 is ominous. I frequently look in the eyes of 4H and FFA members seeing only hope and excitement. I see leadership and citizenship at its best. I see a commitment to personal responsibility and success. I will continue to open doors for these students and many more from non-agricultural areas to overcome the scientific and natural resource management challenges before us. Georgia needs…….
- Plant industry inspectors
- Diesel technicians
- Drone pilots
- Soil scientists
- Food marketing specialists
- Logistics managers
I will continue to lead, advocate and support opportunities for this next generation so that in 2050 and beyond, agriculture will still be Making Life Better for Georgia. We must begin now to challenge future generations with the promise that Life can be Better for You, if it is invested in an agriculturally related career.
