Enhance Marketing Strategies
6. Georgia must commit to enhancing domestic and international marketing strategies for agriculture, food and forest products.
As important as Georgia Grown is to local food systems, it is vital that we also focus on opportunities to develop the brand across the country and abroad.
- Trade Missions – Georgia Grown pavilions will anchor major domestic and international food product shows in the coming year. We must also expand our e-commerce platform for Georgia commodities.
- Domestic Advertising – This summer, Richmond, VA, and Cincinnati, OH, are target markets for Georgia Grown and our new brand line “Nature’s Favorite State.” Building brand recognition and reputation will bring value to Georgia farmers and rural communities.
- Value Added Agriculture – Our rural job creation strategy must include more meat processing. I look forward to the upcoming direction of a UGA feasibility study focused on farmer-owned meat processing plants funded by the Farm Credit Banks and Georgia Grown.
I look forward to working with the new Rural Innovation Center at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton and the Georgia Department of Economic Development to advance these initiatives. We are an agricultural state by blessing. Agriculture does Make Life Better. Let’s sell this message here at home and across the globe.
